Moisture from Matthew means wet Sunday, flood concerns

Sunday is starting out as a wet one across the Philadelphia region, due to what's left of Hurricane Matthew.

The northern edge of rain bands from the storm has parts of our area under flood warnings and advisories.

FOX 29 Weather Authority meteorologist Scott Williams reports the clearing will take place from west to east as a cold front gradually interacts with the moisture.

The rain should taper off in the Philadelphia area between 12:30 and 1pm, and later exit the shore by 4pm.

There are areal flood advisories for the shore until 11:45am, areal flood warnings for central southern Delaware until 12:45pm, and wind advisories along the shore for gusts up to 45mph until 6pm.

Sunday night will be clear and chilly, with lows in the 40s.

Monday will be sunny but cool, with highs in the low 60s.

A deteriorating Matthew triggered severe flooding across North Carolina as it made its exit to the sea Sunday, and hundreds of people had to be rescued from their homes and cars. The death toll in the U.S. climbed to at least 14, half of them in North Carolina.
