Montgomery County bank robbed 3 minutes after opening

A bank branch opened for the day on Thursday but was robbed just three minutes later.

Abington police say the man in the pictures walked into the BB&T on Old York Road at 9:03am.

He walked directly to a teller and opened a small book which had a note demanding money.

The clerk handed him an undisclosed amount of assorted denomination bills.

Then, the robber turned around and walked out the Old York Road side doors, which he'd entered, and was last seen walking north on Old York Road towards the parking lot.

No weapon was shown nor implied, and there were no injuries.

The robber is described as about 45-55 years old, about 6' tall, with a dark complexion. Police say to note the orange coloring in part of his beard.

He was wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt and white baseball-type hat.

A white pickup truck seen leaving the area around the time may or may not be involved.

Anyone with information on the incident or person in the pictures is asked to call Abington police at 267-536-1100, option #3, or the FBI at 215-418-4000. They say tipsters can remain anonymous.
