Mother, daughter stabbed in South Philadelphia; ex-boyfriend sought

A mother is dead, and her 21-year-old daughter is fighting for her life after being stabbed in South Philadelphia. Police are now looking for the prime suspect, the daughter's 25-year-old ex-boyfriend.

Police say the couple broke up only a few days ago, likely fueling the deadly overnight incident.

The double stabbing homicide occurred around 2 a.m. on Thursday on the 2700 block of Daily Terrace.

Investigators described a gruesome scene this morning, both inside and outside the property owned by the Philadelphia Housing Authority.

When police arrived, they found a 48-year-old woman stabbed in the neck and chest. She was conscious and talking to police at the time. The victim was transported to the hospital, and was expected to survive, but ultimately succumbed to her injures during surgery.

Police say the woman's 21-year-old daughter was stabbed in the neck and transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition.

Neighbors, who saw the victims bloodied outside of the house, rendered aid until medics arrived.

A teenage daughter also lives at the home, likely in police protection as authorities continue their search for the 25-year-old suspect.

Police say a witness to the horrific crime is also working with homicide detectives.
