BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD (WTXF) - Baltimore County Police have arrested and charged a 17-year-old Carroll County, Maryland teen as an adult on multiple charges for raping a 9-year-old at Maryland State Fairgrounds on Thursday.
According to a press release from police, Jonathan Fleming has been charged with second degree rape, second degree sexual offense, perverted practice, fourth degree sexual assault, and second degree sexual assault.
He is been held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $500,000 bond.
The 9-year-old victim is a girl also from Carroll County, and according to the press release, a family friend of Fleming.
Baltimore County’s Crimes Against Children Unit investigated the incident, and discovered that Fleming has been sexually abusing the victim since she was about three-years-old.
According to the press release, the victim told officials that Fleming has been forcing her to engage in sexual acts at various fairs several times a year in Maryland and other place.
The press release states that detectives found that Fleming’s family and the victim’s family were together at the fairgrounds on the 2200 block of York Road in Timonium.
The families were getting ready for the Maryland State Fair and often travel together for the festivities.
The victim informed police that at some point during the afternoon, she was touch inappropriately by Fleming at the Cow Palace.
They then moved to a more secluded area.
Then, Fleming, according to the press release, took the victim to the Swine Barn and a trailer owned by the Fleming family.
The victim then told police that for about 15 to 20 minutes, she was forced by Fleming to perform various sexual acts, including intercourse.
The victim’s father called authorities after he was warned by a farmer who became concerned when he saw Fleming and the victim at the Swine Barn.
An investigation into the allegations of abuse that occurred prior is ongoing, with additional charges possible.
