CROWLEY, LA (WTXF) - A Louisiana police officer is being praised after he went above and beyond to help and comfort a lost, young boy at a fair.
Officer David Taylor carried a young boy around for more than 30 minutes at the Rice Festival in Crowley, Louisiana until his mother was located according to KLFY.
Now, a photo of Taylor and the boy has gone viral on social media.
Texas resident Betty Thomas saw the heartwarming moment in action.
“We were walking through looking at things and we saw the police officer with the little boy that was lost,” she said.
And to top this sweet moment off, the boy fell asleep in Taylor’s arms.
Thomas said that while she understands that this is part of what police officers are supposed to do, it was very touching to have witnessed it.
“Understand that he helped the little boy for quite a while until he found the mother and that was just really great to see. He was just showing him the sights and holding him and keeping him comfortable,” Thomas told KLFY.
Carolyn Senegal, a new Crowley resident said, “I think it’s awesome because we hear so much negative things about our police officers today so I’m happy to say that I’ve seen something that’s a positive image. That’s an officer going above and beyond the call of duty.”
Chief K.P. Gibson spoke highly of Taylor, saying he was proud of him and all of his officers. He also said, according to KLFY, that he wished the public could see more of what he sees them do day to day.
As for Officer Taylor, well, he just says he was doing his job.
