MAINE (WTXF) - A prison inmate has spoken out after being told he will spend the rest of his life in prison after stabbing a sex offender 87 times, the Daily Mail reports.
According to the publication, Richard Stahursky said that he feels better knowing that “he is not alive.”
Stahursky was reportedly referring to Micah Boland, who was serving a 22-year sentence at Maine State Prison for sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl.
According to the Daily Mail, Stahursky was told yesterday that he will never leave prison. However, he did not show a hint of regret, telling the judge that he will sleep better knowing that Boland was dead.
Stahursky, a convicted armed robber, told the hearing that he served as “judge, jury, and executioner” for Boland, who according to WABI-TV, caused him to lose a prison job.
The Daily Mail reports that he pleaded guilty at a hearing on the condition that he could personally speak to the judge to show his lack of remorse.
Originally, Stahursky was convicted for armed robbery, but since then he has been in trouble for other assaults while in custody.
He reportedly stabbed two other inmates and assaulted a prison officer, according to the Daily Mail. The assaults each added time to his sentence.
However, Stahursky was told Thursday that he has no chance of getting out of prison after Boland’s brutal stabbing last year.
Inmates had not been required to be in their cells at the time of the killing and most were on their way back from dinner on February 26, according to the Daily Mail.
Stahursky reportedly assaulted Boland, knocked him out, and then tied him up before stabbing him 87 times, the Maine Sunday Telegram reported.
Boland died in his cell in the early hours of the next morning. He was six years into his 22-year sentence.
