Woman, her daughter, and baby granddaughter all die in tragic vehicle collision

- A woman, her daughter, and her 9-month-old granddaughter all died after a truck collided with their car in Michigan on Saturday, local news outlets reported.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office told the Holland Sentinel that 62-year-old Patricia Rayner was driving her car when she didn’t stop for a stop sign.

Also in the car were 24-year-old Casey McMaster and her baby granddaughter, Madi McMaster, according to Buzzfeed.

A truck driven by 37-year-old Bryan Rotman, struck the vehicle. Authorities told the Holland Sentinel that Rotman had the right-of-way.

Buzzfeed reports that Rayner’s car crashed into a telephone pole and flipped over in the collision.

WOOD TV reports that Rayner and McMaster were ejected from the vehicle.

Bystanders rescued Madi from the car and attempted to save her, but she died at the scene, according to the station.

WOOD TV reports that Rayner also died at the scene while McMaster later died at the hospital. The passengers in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries, the station reports.

According to a GoFundMe page, Madi had been diagnosed with spina bifida.

Vicky Powelson, who created the page, said that the GoFundMe was originally set up to help with Madi’s medical expenses, but its mission had been changed to help raise money for the family’s funeral costs.

“Please join me in sending prayers, wishes, thoughts, and, if possible, donations to the family in this time of great need and grief,” she wrote.
