Cops: Sons of slain couple found with grisly message arrested on murder charges

- The sons of a Bangladeshi couple shot to death in their San Jose home have been arrested for allegedly murdering their parents, authorities said.

Hasib Golamrabbi, 22, who had been missing since the killings, was found Wednesday about 60 miles away in Tracy, California, and taken into custody, police said. He is being held without bail at Santa Clara County Jail. His 17-year-old brother, who was not identified because of his age, is being held at Juvenile Hall.

Golamrabbi is scheduled to be arraigned Friday.  Prosecutors have not said if they intend to try the teenager as an adult. Both sons are accused of murder.

Shamima Rabbi, 57, and Golam Rabbi, 59, were found dead in their home last weekend, along with a chilling message that read “Sorry my first kill was clumsy.”

Another read “take care of your brother or he’s next,” reported CBS affiliate KPIX 5. Citing sources, the station said the words had been scrawled on interior walls with a black marker.

The sons were not home when friends and relatives, worried because they had been unable to reach the husband and wife, arrived at the family's house.

The parents, who arrived from Bangladesh 30 years ago, were active members of the Evergreen Islamic Center and well liked, neighbors said.

They were described as welcoming and kind, and as people who went out of their way to make others feel at home.

“It’s just really hard to believe that a child would kill their parents,” neighbor Cassandra Nash told the station.

Police released few details about the killings and the arrests. No motive has been given.
