Police Release Video of Drivers Underestimating Bridge Clearance

Westwood, Ma--Massachusetts police released dramatic surveillance video showing driver after driver repeatedly underestimating the height of a bridge outside of Boston.

Locals have dubbed it ‘Lobsterpocalyse.'

The video from last July shows a truck that's transporting over 100,000 of lobsters -- hit the overpass with such force, it jolts the truck's alignment --setting fire to the lobsters.

The stunned driver can be seen leaping from the cabin moments later and he's not alone. Police say over the past year, a number of truck drivers have gone plowing right through the clearance

A food delivery truck also hit the overpass with such force that the entire refrigerated cargo cabin was ripped from the vehicle and sent flying through the air. Another moving truck driver didn't do as bad a job, but, his truck did lose its roof, according to video.

Westwood police say the East Street Bridge measures in at ten-feet, six-inches.

And, despite the words 'low clearance' clearly displayed in yellow, several determined drivers seem to think they can still make it. That's why police are releasing the dramatic footage in hopes it will be a warning to truck drivers ... To be more alert, and not take chances.
