Nebraska parents bury 2-year-old son killed by alligator

A funeral has been held for a 2-year-old Nebraska boy killed by an alligator at Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

The Mass for Lane Thomas Graves was held Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in west Omaha and was limited to family and friends. Lane was pulled into the water and drowned last week despite the frantic efforts of his father.

In a statement, Matt and Melissa Graves thanked the "friends and strangers who share in our loss and who have shown us profound compassion."

Also Thursday, we learned emergency dispatchers received two 911 calls in the moments after the alligator dragged Graves into the Seven Seas Lagoon.

Spokesman Tim O'Toole at the Reedy Creek Improvement District, which handles calls at Disney World, says the first call came from the "drop phone" at a lifeguard stand, and no voice can be heard. The second came from a woman who said someone was drowning in the lake at the Grand Floridian Resort.

Rescue crews arrived shortly thereafter on the evening of June 14. The body of Lane Graves was found the next day in murky water not far off the beach.
