New Jersey State police make $375,000 drug bust

New Jersey State police arrested two men who they say were in position of $375,000 worth of heroin and cocaine.

Police made the arrest back on August 30 when officers stopped 44-year-old Wellington Moya driving a Toyota Camry, and 41-year-old Douglas Watson driving a Range Rover as they entered a storage facility on Wagaraw Road.

During the stop, the officers found a kilogram of cocaine, 30 grams of heroin and $5,273 cash. Officials later discovered 337 bricks of heroin, a handgun, a kilo press and additional drug paraphernalia within a storage unit under Watson's name.

"While we are taking a multi-faceted approach to combating the opioid epidemic that also involves prevention and treatment strategies, we remain fully committed to the type of proactive investigative efforts that enabled the New Jersey State Police to arrest these defendants," said Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal. "Heroin traffickers are callously profiting while lives are lost across New Jersey, and we are determined to bring them to justice."

Moya and Watson were charged with possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute, among other related charges. Both were sent to Bergen County Jail pending a bail detention hearing.
