NJ lawmakers to vote on Atlantic City rescue bills

- New Jersey lawmakers are set to vote on an Atlantic City rescue package to keep the struggling resort town from running out of money.

The Democrat-led Assembly and Senate have scheduled votes for Thursday on a package of bills to help the city.

Republican Gov. Chris Christie says he'll decide quickly whether to sign or veto the legislation. Christie says it contains the authority that he has been seeking, but he declined to say Wednesday if he supports the deal.

The legislation gives the city five months to come up with a plan to balance budgets over five years.

The deal eliminates, for now, the threat of a state takeover, and resolves a nasty political fight that has raged since January and pushed the resort ever closer to bankruptcy.
