Superhero funeral held for 4-year-old boy after courageous battle with brain tumor

WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ (WTXF) - On Tuesday morning, members of the Monroe Township Police paid their final respects to Easton Windhurst. The four-year-old passed away on the morning of July 12 at home with his family. Easton fought a courageous 19-month battle with aplastic ependymoma.

Because Easton was a superhero in the hearts of everyone who met him, the family requested that those attending the service wear bright colors or superhero attire.

Easton's uncle, a K-9 officer in Woodbury, joined friends and family in celebrating Easton's life.

Officers from Monroe Township, Woodbury, Glassboro, Washington Township, Manuta, West Deptford, Clayton, Rowan, Wildwood, Hamilton Township, Moorestown, Gloucester, Camden and Cumberland, along with members of the Atlantic County K-9 Academy, also saluted Easton with a drive-by procession of the church.

In a Facebook post, the Monroe Township Police Department wished Godspeed to Easton, nothing that "all the officers in attendance will strive their hardest to match the courageousness that Easton showed while fighting his disease."

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Easton's memory may be sent to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia or the National Brain Tumor Society.
