N.J. officials looking for vehicle struck by driver involved in fatal accident

New Jersey State Police ask the public's assistance in finding a vehicle hit by a driver involved in a fatal accident.

Officials say troopers were called to I-295 in Mount Laurel Township on the report of an accident Sunday, about 6 p.m.

When responding troopers arrived, they found a car had gone off the road, hitting several trees before coming to rest. The driver and a passenger, 37-year-old Marcelo Rizzo and 8-year-old Juliana Rizzo, both of Union, New Jersey, were seriously injured and transported to Cooper Medical Center.

A second passenger, 9-year-old Madelynn Rizzo, also of Union, New Jersey, was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say an initial investigation determined Marcelo Rizzo drove his car erratically, hit a vehicle in the center lane and drove off the road. Officials say the unknown vehicle will have damage on the rear quarter panel or the rear passenger side bumper.

Anyone with information regarding the unknown vehicle is encouraged to contact the Bordentown Detective Bureau at 609-298-1171. They accept anonymous tips, as well.
