One fatality after tractor trailer overturns on northbound I-95

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Philadelphia police said one person was injured and another died after a tractor trailer overturned on northbound I-95.

A tractor trailer carrying watermelons was driving northbound near the Broad Street exit when it overturned around 3 p.m. Saturday. The watermelons spilled onto the highway. Police said a car was hit by the watermelons.

The driver of the vehicle hit was injured and taken to an area hospital.

Police said the passenger in the car hit by the watermelons died from injuries received as a result of the accident.

The accident is under investigation.
