Obama says no to NYT guacamole recipe

(FOX NEWS) -- Give peas a chance? When it comes to guacamole, no way, says President Barack Obama.

He dipped into the great guacamole debate Wednesday after The New York Times suggested a healthy twist on guacamole--usually made with mashed avocado, chopped onion, tomatoes, chilli peppers and seasoning.

"Add green peas to your guacamole. Trust us," the newspaper said.

But the leader of the free world was having none of the freewheeling recipe created by ABC Cocina's chef-owner, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and his chef de cuisine, Ian Coogan.

During a Twitter Q&A session on healthcare Wednesday, Justin Green, the political editor at the Independent Journal Review, tossed this question to Obama: "#AskPOTUS Do you agree with the @nytimes about putting peas in guacamole? If yes, why?"

To which the answer was: no way.

Obama tweeted his support of an basic version of the Mexican favorite.
