Officer pulls unconscious man from burning car overnight

A quick-thinking Philadelphia police officer pulled an unconscious man out of a burning car after a crash on N. Broad Street.

The officer happened to be driving near Belfield Avenue just before midnight.

Police say the driver had lost control of his car, hit a median strip and two parked cars, and then the car caught fire.

The officer didn't assume the driver had gotten out, and he simply didn't just call the fire department or medics.

Instead, he got out and found the victim unresponsive.

He got the victim out and then the car became engulfed in flames.

Now, there's just a pile of ash and a Dodge Charger engine cover on the road.

The victim is in stable condition.

Police say they don't think he was impaired in any way, just possibly speeding.
