13 displaced following fire in Chester

More than a dozen people in Chester are out of their homes after an overnight fire.

It started at 3rd and Yarnall streets at about 1am Wednesday. Firefighters found flames coming from the second and third floors.

The fire went to two alarms before being put under control at about 2:15.

One mother of six told FOX 29's Dave Kinchen she was shocked to watch her home go up in flames.

Firefighters are being praised for their quick rescue. Three children and two adults were carried down a fire escape.

Wednesday morning, 13 people are displaced. The Red Cross is helping them.

Five family members are in the hospital for observation.

The house had been converted into apartments.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire.

Neighbors said they think it's suspicious because of recent car fires, and fire officials are looking into that.
