Pennsylvania Gov. Wolf undergoing prostate cancer treatment

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WTXF/AP) - Pennsylvania's governor is undergoing an outpatient procedure for prostate cancer and will be out of the office for a few days.

A spokesman for Gov. Tom Wolf announced the unspecified procedure in this news release issued Monday: "Tomorrow, Governor Tom Wolf will have an outpatient procedure as part of his previously announced prostate cancer treatment. He will be spending Tuesday and Wednesday at his home, and return to the office on Thursday."

The 67-year-old Democrat has described it as a mild form that would require minor treatment that won't involve chemotherapy. He publicly disclosed the cancer in February.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among U.S. men, with an estimated 220,000 new cases and 27,500 deaths last year.

It's the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in American men, with a 15-year relative survival rate of 94 percent.
