Philadelphia police officer injured after being struck by vehicle

A Philadelphia police officer is recuperating after being struck by a vehicle.

Police were called to the 3100 block of Broad Street for a reported disturbance taking place in a McDonald's parking lot. Upon arrival, investigators say a vehicle had struck a police officer trying to stop the occupants of the vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle were wanted for a theft.

The alleged suspects then reportedly struck the police officer's vehicle on the passenger side, causing minimal damage. After striking the officer and the police vehicle, it was then reported that the occupants left the parking lot, driving southbound on Broad Street.

Investigators say they recovered the vehicle unoccupied on the 1600 block of West Indiana.

The officer was transported to Temple Hospital where he was treated and released.

The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made.
