Philadelphia police officer struck, dragged by vehicle in West Oak Lane

Philadelphia Police are looking for a driver who struck and dragged an officer late Thursday night in West Oak Lane.

Police say the 28-year-old officer was dragged several hundred feet near North 20 th and Spencer Streets just before 10:30 p.m.

Investigators say the officer and his partner were conducting a traffic stop when the ordered the driver to shut off his car. When the officer reached into the car to grab the keys, the suspect attempted to drive off, dragging the officer more than 500 feet down the roadway.

The driver fled the scene after striking the officer in a vehicle described by police as a 2005 Pontiac Solver Grand Prix.

The officer was taken to Einstein Medical Center with minor injuries.

Officers say they know the identity of the suspect, and he is no stranger to police after having several other run-ins with police.
