Phillies catcher Cameron Rupp adopts dog from North Philly SPCA

This pup just won the World Series of dog adoptions. Philadelphia Phillies catcher Cameron Rupp recently adopted sweet Lola from the SPCA in North Philadelphia.

Lola was abandoned and hogtied outside the Pennsylvania SPCA in North Philadelphia.

During the Pennsylvania SPCA's Bark in the Park event, held at the Phillies stadium last year, Cameron Rupp was down on the field playing with the dogs and even had a group of enthusiastic supporters who call themselves Ruppies Puppies!

Noticing this love, we reached out to him to see if he'd want to do an event with us the following year, and it was then that Ruppapalooza was born.

The event this July was a huge success, raising more than $30,000 for the cause. Cameron would go on to be chosen as the Phillies nominee for the Roberto Clemente award for his work on our behalf.

The PSPCA sent Rupp Lola's pictures. He dropped by to visit her. Then he dropped by again. And again. On Wednesday, he made the adoption official and the PSPCA says, "Lola's now living with her new canine brother Chief and they are best friends!"
