Philly first responders awarded at National Liberty Museum

Everyday heroes received some well-deserved recognition at the National Liberty Museum, where 14 awards of valor were presented to first responders in Old City.

The honors went to police officers, firefighters and K-9 units for their acts of bravery and compassion for their communities.

Joel Sumner, the awards program coordinator, put their sacrifice into words:

"We got officers here tonight who run into burning buildings, save folks from car crashes and who have built bridges in their communities or started programs to really connect with people in the community," he said at the event.

This is the National Liberty Museum's twelfth year hosting the awards.
