Photos Of "In God We Trust" Decal on Sheriff's Vehicles Go Viral

GALENA, MO (WTXF)- A Midwestern Sheriff's Department has made an addition to their patrol cars. Images of the new addition have gone viral on social media.

The Stone County Sheriff's Officer in Galena, Missouri recently added a new decal to the rear of their department vehicles.

Those decals read "In God We Trust."

Deputies shared images of their vehicles equipped with the new decals and the photos have be shared nearly 25,000 times on Facebook, while commenters pass along their blessings.

The Sheriff's Officer wrote in their Facebook post that the phrase became our, "National Motto in 1956 and is on all of our currency."

They added that "There has been no better time than now to proudly display our National Motto."

However, not everyone was pleased with the decals. Some questioned if they belonged on government property. Other questioned if taxpayer money funded the creation of the decals. The department says the decals were donated by local businesses.
