Pizza delivery driver shot in East Germantown

A pizza delivery driver is in critical condition after police say he was shot inside his car in Philadelphia's East Germantown neighborhood.

The shooting happened on the 6200 block of North Beechwood Street as the driver got back in his car after dropping off a delivery.

While the man is sitting in the car, police say the suspect ran up to the driver's side window, reached inside and shot the 49-year-old victim in the stomach.

The victim was able to drive himself back to the pizza shop where authorities then transported him to the hospital and rushed him to surgery.

Investigators are not sure if anything was taken from the driver as they wait to talk to the recovering victim.

Police are looking through private surveillance footage to find out more about the suspect.

The suspect has been described as a man with a thin build and facial hair.
