14-year-old killed, another teen wounded in Kensington shooting

A 14-year-old was shot to death and a 16-year-old wounded, and police are looking into what might've caused the tragic violence in Kensington.

"I'm living in my worst nightmare if anybody wanted to see me really hurt. It was well accomplished."

For Shyheer Frasier the pain of losing her oldest child was almost too much to bear. She spoke with FOX 29 on her way to a vigil for 14-year-old Tymier, the light of her life. A young man who lit up the room whenever he walked in.

"My son's smile, his jokes and he was an excellent big brother to his younger siblings," she said.

Tymier was gunned down on the 2000 block of East Orleans Street near Frankford Avenue Monday night around 9:30 p.m.. His mother says Tymier was a mentor to her three other children. He played football and loved boxing. He was two weeks away from finishing 8th grade.

"He was supposed to graduate next month on the 9th, you know going to high school. He was going to play football," his mom said.

Police say a lone gunman walked up the block on East Orleans, stepped between two parked cars and fired 6 or 7 shots, wounding Tymier's 16-year-old friend and striking Tymier in the back.

"He'd never been in trouble a day in his life with the law. It's hard to imagine he was the target, but we don't know," Philadelphia Homicide Captain James Clark said.

"Tymier was a good kid. He was staying with his boxing. He wasn't a street kid."

Tyrelle Evans says Tymier was a good friend. They always looked out for each other, so he helped put together this memorial.

Police believe someone on the block may have information on the shooter. They say that person needs to step forward.

Now there's a $20,000 reward in this case. The 16-year-old who was shot was interviewed at the Homicide Unit Tuesday afternoon. Police insist they have no motive for the murder and more questions than answers at this point.
