Police ask for help in identifying Jenkintown theft suspect

Jenkintown, Pa. (WTXF) Police say they are hoping to identify a theft suspect in Jenkintown, Montgomery County.

According to police, on March 10th, the Jenkintown Police Department received a call for a theft in progress at the China Keng Restaurant located at 408 York Rd.

Investigators say the owner, who was open for business, was sitting in a chair in the lobby area of the restaurant. He reports that he fell asleep and was awoken by a call from his daughter. According to authorities, when the owner awoke he saw that his cash register was missing.

Video surveillance obtained from the rear lot shows the suspect running with the register in hand out of the back door of the restaurant and into the rear parking lot.

The register contained approximately $70.00 in cash. Authorities say the suspect also took several gift cards and bank cards which as of now haven't been used. The front of the restaurant has a large glass window and glass front door. The interior is easily visible from the sidewalk of route 611.
