Police: Boys facing felony charges for BB gun ambush at pool

HOLLY HILL, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -Leanne Dontigney says a relaxing day at her apartment complex pool ended in panic and a trip to the hospital.

Dontigney tells FOX 35 News, "It's terrible. I've been in a lot of pain and stressing out."

Dontigney and her two boys were at the Blue Tide Apartments pool last Monday when someone at the pool complained of pain. Then, Dontigney was hit.

"I first got shot in the arm; it hurt really bad. I didn't know where it came from, then I freaked out and was worried about the safety of my children," she says.  "I quickly turned around, my lounge chair was behind me, and I got shot in the mouth."

Her two bottom teeth chipped in half and her tongue burned.

Police say two boys who were staying with their grandmother in an apartment across from the pool got their hands on a BB gun and fired through the screens in the windows at sunbathers and swimmers at the pool. Four people were hit, but Dontigney was the most seriously injured and had to go to the hospital, police say.

According to the police report, the boys denied firing the BB gun.  They went back home with their family, out of state.  The boys are now facing felony charges of aggravated battery and simple battery.

Now, Dontigney is trying to come up with the money to have all 4 bottom teeth taken care of. She says her insurance won't cover it.
