Police: Burlington store clerk brutally attacked during robbery

Police say they are investigating after a Burlington store clerk was stabbed during a robbery in broad daylight.

Bianca Horton was busy behind the counter at the Metro PCS store in Burlington City Wednesday night, still shaken up over a violent attack on an employee at the convenience store right next door.

"Am I next? Are they gonna try and come to my store and do that. It's crazy," Horton told FOX 29 Wednesday night. "Give them the money. Let it go. It's not worth your life."

Cameras caught the suspect as he entered the store with his hood up and his head down. Within seconds, he was all over the clerk behind the counter, viciously beating and then stabbing him, according to police.

It happened last Monday just after 2:30 p.m. at the Super Speedy Mart on busy Route 130 in Burlington City. Police say as the knife-wielding suspect brutally attacked the 58-year-old clerk, stabbing him repeatedly and leaving him with life-threatening injuries.

Horton works nights sometimes she's alone at the phone store. She knows the victim who got stabbed. She's praying for him and concerned for her own life working behind the counter.

The suspect was wearing a mask and dark clothing. He got away with an unknown amount of cash with the wounded clerk chasing after him. The victim's boss praised his colleague's courage and he's hoping he returns to work soon.
