Police: Impaired driver arrested after car chase

An allegedly impaired Millsboro man was arrested and charged with multiple crimes after he lead troopers on a car chase Thursday night, police say.

Wayne O. Revel Jr., 41, was observed by deputies driving a Ford Ranger with no brake lights around 7:00 p.m. When an officer attempted to make a traffic stop, Revel Jr. allegedly took off westbound on John J. Williams Highway.

Police say Revel made an illegal shortcut through the parking lot of a local business and proceeded onto Layton Davis Road.

Officers allegedly observed Revel Jr. tossing "objects" out the window and talking on his cell phone while driving erratically during the pursuit.

Police say Revel Jr. finally came to a stop near Indian Mission Road and attempted to flee on foot, but was detained.

It was later discovered by authorities that Revel Jr. had tossed drug paraphernalia out his window during the chase.

Police say Revel Jr. had active warrants for Protection from Abuse violation and Violation of Probation.

Revel Jr. was charged with multiple crimes and held at Sussex Correctional Institution on $5,028 bond.
