Willingboro, NJ (WTXF) - Willingboro police say they are investigating a string of armed robberies and car theft which they believe are connected.
According to police, on July 14 around 9:45 p.m. the Willingboro Township Police Department was dispatched to the unit block of Glenview Lane for a report of an armed robbery. Responding officers located a victim whom had been walking on Glenview Lane when they were approached by two males in their early twenties,
Police say one of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded the victim's property. The victim gave a backpack and smartphone to the suspects. The victim then fled from the scene unharmed.
Officers began to search the area for the suspects by conducting a track with a K-9. While conducting the search, officers were dispatched to the unit block of Gloria Lane for a report of a stolen vehicle. Officers responded to Gloria Lane and learned that a 2008 Chevy Equinox had been stolen moments ago while being left running unattended.
Approximately ten minutes later officers, received a report of another armed robbery on the unit block of Edgely Place. Police say officers responded to that location and found that a victim had been approached and assaulted by two males fitting the descriptions of the earlier robbery suspects. According to investigators, one of the suspects had been armed with a handgun. During the robbery, the suspects stole the victim's backpack and ran from the area. The victim was unharmed during the incident.
While investigating this incident officers located the stolen vehicle from Gloria Lane parked unattended in the area of Empire Lane and Eddington Lane.
Willingboro detectives are investigating all three incidents and believe that they may have all been committed by the same suspects.
