30-year-old man who allegedly killed his own mother in Lower Makefield identified

Lower Makefield Police have released more information after a man was arrested Thursday afternoon for the murder of his mother.
According to a press release, on Thursday at 3:00 p.m., police received a call that a man had just informed a passerby that he had killed his mother. He was described as wearing flip flops and shorts and was walking around the area.
Police arrived to the location, searching and discovering the man. After they approached and investigated him, they found that he lived on Lower Hilltop Road in Lower Makefield.
Then, they went to the home and found 52-year-old Rebecca Cope lying on the kitchen floor, deceased.
The man, identified as Zachary A. Cope, was taken to police headquarters for investigation and the home was held as a crime scene.
The official cause and manner of death of Rebecca Cope has not been determined at this time, however, it appears that she sustained blunt force trauma to her head and body and several stab and cut wounds.
Zachary A. Cope was charged with criminal homicide and possession of an instrument of a crime. He was arraigned at 9:30 p.m. and taken to Bucks County Correctional Facility.
The investigation is ongoing.
