Police: Man arrested for attacking wife, during Trump, Clinton argument

(INSIDE EDITION)- A 78-year-old Donald Trump supporter was arrested last week after allegedly throwing his pro-Hillary Clinton wife to the ground during an argument about politics in their Florida home.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, the altercation between registered Republican Lawrence Littman and his wife Elvia, a Democrat, occurred Wednesday.

In a 911 call placed by 73-year-old Elvia, she reportedly told the operator she and her husband had been in a fight about politics.

Elvia told police her husband "called her many derogatory names then grabbed her wrist and threw her on a chair in the bedroom" according to the police report.

According to the report, Elvia said the confrontation became physical when she tried to go to a different room to get away but her husband followed her.

She said she hurt her backside in the fall. Police said they found no visible markings.

Mr. Littman reportedly told cops his wife "tried to slap him in the face" and he was retaliating.

Nonetheless, police arrested Littman for battery of a person over 65.

Littman has since been freed on $500 bond on the felony change, for which he pleaded not guilty
