Police: Man flees police, jumps into creeks and drowns

Police say a 29-year-old man drowned in the Wissahickon Creek after fleeing from Philadelphia police during a traffic stop.

It happened Wednesday around 7 p.m.

According to police, the man was pulled over for driving a commercial vehicle on the Lincoln Drive off ramp, which is not allowed. Police say they discovered he was wanted in New Jersey and that's when he fled, jumping in the water.

The Marine Unit recovered the body and pronounced him dead at the scene.
