Police: Mom Dropped Newborn From High Rise Shortly After Giving Birth

Police in Chicago have charged a 19-year-old woman with first-degree murder after they say she dropped her newborn daughter from an apartment window.

Mubashra Uddin, was charged after allegedly dropping the girl from her 8 th floor window Wednesday night in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood.

Police say Uddin's newborn daughter was discovered in the yard of the building.

The baby was taken to the hospital, but was pronounced dead less than two hours later.

Police say the baby was dropped from the window shortly after Uddin gave birth.

According to the Daily Mail, Assistant State attorney Patrick Turnock says Uddin had not told her parents about the pregnancy because she knew they would not approve.

Authorities say Uddin gave birth to the full-term child in her bedroom, and dropped the baby out the window when she heard her mother approaching the door.

Uddin was ordered to be held without bond, and is expected to appear in court Monday.
