Police make arrest in deadly Kensington hit-and-run

PHILADELPHIA, PA (WTXF) - Police say they have arrested and charged a 62-year-old man in a hit and run accident that left a Philadelphia man dead.

Ramon Morales has been charged with murder, accident involving death, homicide by vehicle and Involuntary manslaughter as a result of the incident.

35 year old Tommy Dunbar Jr. was killed by a hit and run driver Wednesday night. He was struck at Lehigh and Aramingo and thrown off his scooter around 9 p.m.

The impact caused the victim to be dragged about 200 feet down the road underneath of the SUV.

Horrified witnesses wrote down the tag number and got a good description of the vehicle , a Pontiac Aztec.

Police found the car a few blocks away with the tell-tale tag and towed it to test it for DNA and fingerprints.

Last Thursday afternoon, a man who lives right across the street from where the vehicle was parked on Cedar Street was taken into custody
.
Tommy's family watched and sobbed- they live only blocks away in Port Richmond. Investigators took numerous beer bottles and other evidence in for testing and spoke with the attorney for the possible suspect.

His lawyer says they have the wrong man.

Tommy's family is devastated. They were too upset to speak on camera.

His mother specifically wanted us to share this photo from the shore so she can remember their happy memories of Wildwood Crest, a place they loved.

On Wednesday night, Tommy had simply hopped on his scooter to pick up food after working on a project with his dad. No one ever saw him alive again.
