Police officer hurt in crash, another hurt trying to help

Two South Jersey police officers are recovering from injuries suffered during a crash and after it, Monday night.

A New Jersey Transit officer was involved in the crash while trying to help a Burlington City officer chase a suspect on foot.

Burlington City police said the transit officer's car was hit by another vehicle just before 8pm near Route 130 South and High Street.

Then, the Burlington officer was injured while trying to help.

Neither officer's injuries were life-threatening. Both were taken to the hospital. The other driver was not hurt.

Police have not released what the suspect was wanted for, but that person was eventually caught.
