Police officer rescues bald eagle on Christmas Eve

- A police officer in Charles County, Maryland, played a part in a Christmas miracle on December 24 when he helped rescue a bald eagle with a broken wing found lying on the side of the road.

Officer Jeff Wood, a trained bird handler, was called out to assist the bird after it was found on Oaks Road in Bryanstown, Maryland.

According to a post on the Charles County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Wood transported the 11.6-pound bald eagle to local animal rescue service Owl Moon Raptor Rescue, where it will be kept for around two months before being released back into the wild.

A photo shared to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page on December 24 had earned over 1,900 reaction at the time of writing.
