Police officer takes care of 4-year-old girl following serious car accident

BATON ROUGE, LA -- This story will warm your heart.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, a 4-year-old girl and her family were involved in a serious crash on Airline Highway in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The girl’s mother and 12-year-old sister suffered injuries during the crash.

Meantime, the girl was walking around the scene in bare feet, having lost her shoes.

Sergeant Duke Staples with Baton Rouge PD arrived to the scene and noticed the state of the young girl, so he decided to take her under his care.

A statement from the Baton Rouge PD says that he comforted the girl until EMS came to the scene to stabilize the condition of her sister and take her to the hospital.

Later on, a family member came to take care of the girl as her mother and sister were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Baton Rouge PD recognized Sergeant Staples in a Facebook post for his service and kind actions.
