Police Officers Help Homeless Family

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK--Two Oklahoma city police officers made an unexpected find after responding to a call at a city park early Monday morning.

When they arrived, Officers Boyett and Dutton found a car in the parking lot inside was a mother and her four children. The officers discovered this is where the family was sleeping because they had nowhere else to go. So the officers filled up their car with toys and took the family to a shelter.

"We're not all about writing tickets. We're not about working wrecks. That's part of our job, but the bigger part of our job is to make a difference," Oklahoma City Police Officer Jeff Dutton explained."It's the reason why anyone puts on this shirt. Anyone who puts on this uniform is for that opportunity to help."

That family has since checked out of the shelter and has been set up with programs to help them get back on their feet.
