Police officers punched, kicked, head-butted, bitten overnight

Two Philadelphia police officers are being treated for injuries they sustained -- and hopefully not more -- when they tried to stop a car break-in in Juniata Park overnight.

Police say the male and female officers on patrol at about 1:30am saw a man breaking into a parked Honda near the 1200 block of E. Atlantic Street.

They tried to stop him and a struggle started.

The suspect is accused of punching, kicking, head-butting and even biting both the male and female officers. The bites on their arms and hands broke their skin, causing open wounds as well as bruises.

They're being treated in the hospital and there's no word yet what, if anything, may have been transmitted.

The 32-year-old suspect has been arrested.
