Police: Pedestrian fatally struck on Front Street

Philadelphia police investigate an accident in which a pedestrian was fatally struck in North Philadelphia.

Police were called to the 3900 block of North Front Street about 4 a.m. April 14 on a report of an accident involving a pedestrian.

Investigators say a Toyota sedan was southbound on Front Street. The driver of the Toyota struck a man who was said to be in the middle of the block.

The victim sustained head trauma. He was transported to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say the driver of the Toyota was at the scene when police arrived. The driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI.

The investigation is ongoing.
