Police release name of victim found in rowhome arson

KENSINGTON (WTXF) - The victim found dead this week in a burning Kensington rowhome has been identified as 28-year-old Gary Schmeltzer of Bensalem, Pa.

That's according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

They said just before 11 p.m. Monday, police officers were flagged down for the fire in the 1800 block of E. Clementine Street.

One of the survivors had jumped from a second story window, and a firefighter was taken to another hospital for evaluation.

The fire was placed under control in about an hour, and then crews searching inside discovered Schmeltzer's remains.

The fire was declared arson.
