All clear given after police respond to suspicious activity in Center City

Police are have given an all clear after investigating suspicious activity in Center City after witnesses reported seeing two men climb into an underground grate.

Police had closed down the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Arch Street as they investigate the incident.

Officers were called to the scene before 9 a.m. after hotel employees reported seeing two men go into the underground grate on the north side of 12th Street. The men were underground for about 20 minutes, before getting back into a vehicle and driving away.

The men have been described as white males in their 30s wearing brown jackets. Police say they were driving a Toyota.
