Police search for suspects in West Chester assault

Police have released surveillance pictures of several people wanted in the vicious beating of a 27-year-old West Chester man outside a local 7-Eleven early Sunday morning.

The man is in critical condition suffering from a fracture skull, brain trauma and several fractured bones in his face. A friend says the victim is now conscious. It all happened outside the 7-Eleven store on East High Street around 2:30 a.m. Customers and the victims' friend condemned the attack.

"Angry, upset, didn't deserve it," his friend told FOX 29. "Very serious injuries. He's lucky he's not dead or brain damaged right now."

Police are still trying to identify the people responsible for the beating. Police believe at least three men were involved in the vicious attack. The victim's friend, who asked us not to use his name, said the victim lives and works in town and was only trying to help someone out when he was pummeled by the suspects.

There was no official word on the status of the investigation from police Tuesday night. The victim's friends and people who know him are hopeful arrests will come soon.
