Police continue searching for hit-and-run driver that killed woman

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (WTXF) Police continue searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a woman on Route 30 Monday night.

On Thursday, police released updated information about the vehicle believed to be involved. Investigators say a light-colored, mid-size sport utility vehicle that is, or resembles, a Lexus RX 300 or RX 350 with a broken driver's-side headlight may be involved.

"How do you move forward?, " asked Fox29's Bruce Gordon. "I don't know," said Servis. "One day at a time. One minute at a time, right now."

For Dottie Servis, time stopped around 10:20 Monday night when her 27-year-old daughter Aubrey was mowed down by a hit-and-run driver in Galloway Township. She was crossing the White Horse Pike at 6th Avenue in the crosswalk and with the light when vehicle struck her and sped off, according to police.

Dottie says her daughter had battled addiction's in her life but was on the road to recovery.

"She was headed in the right direction," said Servis. "She was really trying to put forth the extra effort and stay clean."

On Tuesday, police investigators checked out a gas station at the intersection in hopes of finding security camera video of the accident. Dottie's message for that hit-and-run driver? "Do the right thing. Turn yourself in. You know you hit something."

As Dottie paged through a photo album filled with pictures of Aubrey as a child she couldn't help but think of Aubry's own children. She was estranged from her 7-year-old daughter Janessa and 6-year-old son Derrick but she was still their mother.

"What can you say?" asked Dottie, fighting back tears. "I don't even want to-- I haven't told Janessa yet."

As for Aubrey herself, mom described her as a troubled girl with a good and kind heart.

"You had high hope that she was turning her life around," said Fox29's Gordon. "Yeah," said the grieving mother. Then, she paused and sighed. "I guess we'll never know, now."
