Police: Woman dies after falling from zip line at Del. state park

State police say the initial investigation has determined that the incident occurred at approximately 1:40 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. According to police, the woman fell approximately 40 feet from the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure attraction at the Lums Pond State Park.

The female victim was treated at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics before being transported by ambulance to the Christiana Hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to Del. State Police.

The victim's name is being withheld pending the notification of her next of kin. There were no other injuries.

The company released a statement saying the following:

"The Go Ape team is deeply saddened by this tragic occurrence. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends and in particular to those who were on the course with her at the time."

The investigation into this incident is in its early stages. More information will be provided at the conclusion of the investigation.
