Delaware dedicates interstate welcome center to Biden family

NEWARK, Del. (AP) -- Less than 10 miles into Delaware on the interstate that serves most major East Coast cities, a large glass-walled hut offers travelers tax-free shopping, fast food and information on the First State. And as of Monday, it bears the name of one of the state's most prominent families.

Delaware Welcome Center on Interstate 95 was renamed the Biden Welcome Center in a Monday ceremony. State heads of transportation, elected officials, motorists and the Bidens mingled after Gov. John Carney signed the naming bill into law.

Former Vice President Joe Biden said the dedication was "one of the most meaningful things that has happened to our family."

The ex-Delaware senator's late son, Beau Biden, also served Delaware as a two-term attorney general.
