DNC after parties held all over the city

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) The Sheet Metal Workers Union Building at Penns Landing was red carpet ready Tuesday night.

It's a big DNC viewing and cocktail party to watch what's happening on the floor of Wells Fargo Center but later that night it turned into a party put on by DogonVillage.com. They're the oldest black owned website on the internet. Sheila Brisbane runs Couture Decor and spent the day getting the place ready.

"This is a center piece I made for our red white and blue event," said Brisbane who is from North Philly.

"I'm the queen of taking nothing and making something out of it," said Brisbane. Brisbane says ten years in the business and this the first event of this magnitude that she's been asked to decorate and she's excited.

"Baby showers, birthday parties and the regular stuff. I've never done anything like this. I said I'd be honored to do it," she said.

26 tables and about 250 people. It's Chef Christopher Rodgers' job to prepare the feast. And it was a celebrity event. Actress and business woman Vivica A. Fox hosted.
"I actually looked up a couple things to see what she might like," said Chef Rodgers. " It's absolutely exciting. I've made a lot of meals in my career and I treat them all the same but I know the consequences are a lot higher on this one," he said.

Felicia Davis is with DogoneVillage.com and says it's a party with a purpose.

"After 20 years of working to mobilize the black vote and expand voting rights for all, we're having a wonderful gala event to celebrate all that we've accomplished," said Davis.

R&B and gospel singer Howard Hewett will got the party started with live performances.

"The energy is great, the cause is amazing and very important. We have to push the people to get out and vote," he said.
