Rain blamed for roof collapse, evacuation

People in a boarding house were forced to evacuate overnight after the ceiling gave way and collapsed.

It happened on the 2300 block of W. Atlantic Street just before 1am.

Investigators said they think heavy rain weakened the roof, causing it to give way.

Luckily, no one was injured in the collapse.

Four adults and one child lived there. They were evacuated.

The Red Cross is helping them find a place to stay.
